Dr. Alan Greene is one of my favorite medical professionals these days. He is the founder of the WhiteOut Campaign to eliminate the introduction of processed white-rice flour cereal to babies as their first solid food and is an active champion for evidence-based medical care for our children. His new campaign has to do with solving a few of the world's leading problems for infants at birth: iron deficiency and low oxygen.

His solution is simple and that is to allow the umbilical cord to stop pulsing, thus allowing the baby to receive all of it's own blood (because at birth nearly 1/3 of a baby's blood volume still remains within the placenta & cord) that is filled with iron and oxygen rich red blood cells in addition to immune strengthening white blood cells and stem cell.
